Build / Buy / Borrow

You can obtain Wikipedia for your handheld or notebook in several ways:

  1. Build - Generate the files yourself.

  2. Buy - Order a luxury edition on DVD.

    For the price of two pizza's and a bottle of wine you could order an edition on DVD.

    For the English Wikipedia the choice was either the 2005 edition with 900,000 unabridged Wikipedia articles and 320,000 images or the unabridged text-only 2007 edition with 1.9 million articles.

    A German edition with 660,000 articles and 300,000 images was also available.
    A French edition with 610,000 articles and 230,000 images was also available.

  3. Borrow - Download ready-made text-only files from the Wikipedia server.

    Don't forget to upload the files again after you finished reading  ;)

Notes
You will also need TomeRaider (shareware).
To browse the Wikipedia on your handheld you will need a large memory card.
